Job Description

The Department of Social Work at Fort Hays State University is accepting applications for a nine-month Non-Tenure-Track Instructor of Social Work. Responsibilities:

Nine-month non-tenure track position consisting of 75% allocated to instruction, 5% allocated to scholarship and 20% allocated to service.  The annual required teaching load is equivalent to 30 credit hours Service includes providing services to the community, the profession, the university, the college, and the department. Scholarly activities relate to one’s area of expertise and knowledge and include the pursuit of the scholarship of teaching, learning, and engagement.  

Required Qualifications:

  • An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-MSW social work practice.
  • Social Work License must be obtained prior to appointment
  • Commitments to diversity, culturally competent education, and working with rural communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at a four-year institution of higher education.
    • Experience teaching in a CSWE accredited program, and online teaching experience, are also preferred.
  • Candidates with robust knowledge of social work practice settings are strongly preferred. 
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have significant practice experience and broad connections within the FHSU service area. 
  • Candidates who can bring a diversity of backgrounds and experiences to our community are especially encouraged to apply.

The Department of Social Work at Fort Hays State University offers a CSWE accredited Bachelors of Social Work degree on the main campus, in face-to-face outreach locations, and online. The Department also began offering an online clinically focused MSW Program in the Fall of 2020, which is currently going through the process of accreditation with CSWE.
