Fort Hays State University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a non-tenure track, Instructor position in Clinical Psychology. This position serves the whole department, with a focus on the Clinical Psychology program. The teaching responsibilities are 12-15 per credit hours semester, including on-campus and virtual courses. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including general psychology, abnormal psychology, research methods, counseling methods, assessment, and courses that complement the candidate’s areas of clinical expertise. This position is located on the campus of FHSU located in Hays, Kansas.

Although the position will not require an active research agenda, the Department has a history of promoting high quality undergraduate and graduate research, so the ideal candidate would demonstrate an appreciation of scholarship reflected in their interactions with our graduate and undergraduate students. Service to the department, university, local community, and discipline at large also will be expected.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Licensure as a therapist or psychologist in Kansas or home state.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in designing and teaching on-campus and online classes.
  • Record of scholarly activity and service to the larger community.
  • Experience working with students on scholarship and service.

The Department of Psychology has 13 full-time faculty members and approximately 600 undergraduate majors and graduate students. The Department offers a BA and BS in Psychology; three M.S. degrees in clinical, experimental, and school psychology; and a school psychology Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.). The department has a tradition of involving undergraduate students in research, and the school psychology program enjoys close working relationships with local school districts.
