Instructor - Computer Science - 22903 



The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a full-time instructor position in Computer Science. The instructor will teach undergraduate courses including cross-listed courses in the College of Engineering and Applied Science as assigned by the Chair of the Computer Science Department. The typical course load for an instructor is 24 credit hours (8 courses of 3 credit hours each) per academic year. Examples of courses to be taught are Intro to computing, Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering, Programming Languages, Assembly, Architecture, Operating Systems, UNIX, Databases.

Other activities include:

  • Curriculum development including the development of new courses.
  • Guiding undergraduate students in independent studies
  • Developing and teaching courses for on-campus as well as synchronous and asynchronous online offerings.
  • Advising undergraduate majors
  • Participating in College and Departmental committees and meetings
  • Assisting with data collection for accreditation
  • Other as assigned by the Chair of the Computer Science Department.

    What We Offer:

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $65,000 - $70,000 per academic year

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Tentative Search Timeline:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • MS in Computer Science or closely related field.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • An earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, or closely related field
    • Four months teaching experience at the college level (teaching asst, instructor of record or the equivalent)
    • Experience with delivery of at least one online course

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and fine motor skills.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
