The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology has an opening for a full-time Instructor – Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider position. 

Nature of Work:

  • Clinical care of children with general neurological disorders in inpatient settings including emergency department/critical care/general pediatrics.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Weekday inpatient service and approximately one weekend/month also required (no nights required).

  • Mentor, educate, and precept other NP/PAs, medical students, and other healthcare students as the needs of the section dictate

  • Quality improvement with help in clinical guideline formulation

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $93,200.

The above salary rate represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s/Doctoral degree in nursing (MSN/DNP) or physician assistant (MPAS)
  • Eligible for licensure in Colorado as an Advance Practice Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Nurse practitioner candidate possesses pediatric primary or acute care certification

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Broad knowledge and clinical skills in general pediatric neurology
  • Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training and expertise in pediatric neurology is desirable
  • One to two years of nursing or advanced practice experience in pediatric neurology
  • Prescriptive authority in Colorado,
  • Nurse practitioner candidate possesses acute care certification or DNP 
  • Proficiency in performing lumbar puncture and nerve blocks 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Interest in QI initiatives
