Description of Work Unit
The mission of the Department of Mathematics is A) to maintain an outstanding program of research in pure and applied mathematics, B) to maintain high quality undergraduate and graduate programs in mathematics, C) to offer service courses for the other Departments of the University, and D) to serve the University and the state with outreach programs. The Department has over 250 undergraduate majors and 56 graduate students, with currently 33 tenured and tenure-track faculty.

Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in a non-tenure track assignment. 
 
Applications will be reviewed when a vacancy occurs. 
 
Instructors are hired on a part-time basis each semester which is determined by departmental instructor need, student enrollment numbers, and funding. 
 
Non-tenure track Assistant Professor assignments typically last up to a 9 month period or more, and can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the needs of the department. 
 
These positions will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

Required Job Qualifications
Instructor requirements: hold a Master of Science degree in Mathematics or closely related areas, and have previous university teaching experience in Mathematics. 
 or 
Non-tenure track Assistant Professor requirements: hold a PhD in Mathematics or closely related areas, and have 3 years previous university teaching experience in Mathematics. 
 
The successful candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Mathematics will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions. 
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience teaching large sections (greater than 75 students) in a variety of calculus classes and beyond. 
 
Experience coordinating large service courses in Mathematics, calculus and above. 
 
Experience with pedagogy in teaching, using labs, flipped classrooms, smart technologies, and inquiry based learning methods.

Essential Duties

Responsibilities:
1. Teach a breadth of undergraduate mathematics courses.
2. Prepare and present lessons as outlined in the course syllabi.
3. Hold weekly office hours available to all students.
4. Participate in group reviews prior to all exams.
5. Administer and grade course exams up to 4 times per semester.
