Job Summary: | Nature of Position: Langston University is seeking a full time Assistant/Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department. The starting date will be Fall 2024. Duties and Responsibilities: Faculty member must be prepared to fulfill the responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service to the university. The faculty member will teach a minimum of 12 hours per semester. Faculty member will provide academic advising to undergraduate students. Faculty member will actively seek grants and other funding to help strengthen the department's research program and provide student support. Faculty member will participate in departmental, school, and university projects and committees. The faculty member will play an active role in shaping the future of the math department through departmental planning and development. |

Position Qualifications: | Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics is required; ABD encouraged to apply. College teaching experience preferred. The preferred candidate will also possess expertise that allows teaching in general education mathematics, linear and abstract algebra, applied and advanced statistics, geometry, calculus and other mathematics courses that cover practical aspects and broad applications in the field. Interest in participating in an active research program which could involve undergraduate students is highly desirable. The preferred candidate must have the ability to demonstrate use of technology in the classroom and must be willing and able to use technology relevant to specifically assigned courses. Online teaching experience, willingness to teach online, and the ability to communicate well and employ teaching methods that engage students from traditionally underrepresented populations will be a plus. |
