Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking candidates for full-time Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor for Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO). Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.

Essential Functions
Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities.
  • Conduct classroom and clinical laboratory teaching in the optometry theory and clinical examination course series, consistent with the needs of the department.
  • Perform clinical duties in RSO Eye care Clinics.
  • Participate in curriculum development.
  • Advise students and providing individual help to students during weekly office hours.
  • Perform regular scholarly research and publication.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
OD from an accredited school or college of optometry. Note that MD will be considered in lieu of OD.
Required Work Experience
Completion of a residency/fellowship program or a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with advanced academic degrees, residency training, or teaching experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
License to practice full-scope of optometry in Texas; If license is not possessed, selected candidate must obtain optometry license for state of Texas by date of assignment.
