Job Description:
Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in the disciplines of English and Literature. Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service. Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.
Location: on-site Muscatine campus
Required Qualification:
Master's degree in English, Master's in Fine Arts (English) or Literature
Or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate study hours with at least 12 GHS in English, 6 GSH from Creative Writing, Journalism, Literature, Technical Writing and/or English Education is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching in a community college preferred.
Preference for someone qualified to teach DRAMA or HUMANITIES in addition to ENG and LIT. To teach Drama a master's degree in Drama or a master's degree with at least 18 GSH in Drama, Theatre Production, Fine Arts or Film Studies. Twelve of the GSH must be in Drama and/or Theatre Production. To teach Humanities, a Master's degree in Humanities or master's degree with at least 18 GSH in Humanities, Classics, Humanities and Fine Arts, Anthropology, Art, Cultural Studies, History, Literature, Philosophy, Religion, Linguistics, Fine Arts. Twelve of the GSH must be in Humanities, Classics and/or Humanities and Fine Arts.
Online and in-person teaching, first-year writing experience, and a willingness to teach developmental writing in an ALP co-requisite writing model are strongly preferred.
