Position:                            Instructional Technologist

Position Status:                Exempt, 12 month full-time position

Work Hours:                    9 am to 6 pm, may include some evening hours and up to 6-12 Saturdays annually

Reports to:                        Course Design Manager

Location:                           Online Education Division (Orchard Park, NY): This position is fully remote after six months of successful employment, with occasional on-Campus days throughout the year thereafter.

Summary:

The Instructional Technologist is responsible for the development of new course builds and the redesign of existing courses. The Instructional Technologist works collaboratively with Course Design Manager, Subject Matter Experts (SME), Program Coordinators, and Course Developers in order to meet rigor standards, student-learning outcomes, and student usability standards. This position is best suited to someone who prefers a fast-paced environment, adapts to change and seeks to actively develop new skills and grow in understanding of learning and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Project leader in the development of new course builds and assists in the management of the Master Course Listing including redesigns, revisions, implementation of new initiatives, session starts, course corrections, etc.
  • Collaborates with discipline-specific SMEs in developing course content, course outline, assessments, activities, and multimedia for new and existing courses
  • Knowledge of best practices in Online higher education and instructional design
  • Mentor and coach design team associates
  • Ensures that quality standards are maintained during design, development, and revision of all courses
  • Builds, evaluates, and reviews content for academic rigor and authentic assessment to support online classes
  • Analyzes usability of software and makes recommendations for instructional solutions
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development, student success, and Online Education culture and values
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage time and resources

  • Strong team player with demonstrated ability to forge supportive partnerships within and between departments

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Distance Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology/Instructional Technology, Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution required
  • Experience in course creation, design, and teaching  preferably in Online higher education
  • Preferred experience in Learning Management Systems (ANGEL, Blackboard, E-College)
  • Technologically savvy with multiple browsers and familiar with Microsoft Office products

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment.
  • Position requires the ability to hear conversations and receive information in person and over the telephone.
  • Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

SALARY:

$63,000 per year.
