Job Description

The school of International Letters and Cultures is seeking self-motivated, organized, and responsible Spanish speaker who can grade assignments for a mid size Advanced Spanish-language course. Expected to grade writing assignments and video-voice recordings and answer general students questions. Skillful and accurate command of English and Spanish is required.

Essential Duties

Grading writing assignments and video-voice-recordings over the course of 7 weeks, with a quick turnaround time. Adding quiz questions to Canvas.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

Experience in following detailed instructions:

  • Experience in work that requires quick turnaround.
  • Experience working effectively and maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Experience working independently and utilizing effective communication/problem solving skills to identify issues, concerns and interests and provide effective solutions.
  • Evidence of having advanced proficiency in Spanish, according to the ACTFL guidelines, or native speaker https://www.actfl.org/resources/ncssfl-actfl-can-do-statements.
  • Experience in technology, including video-conference tools, FERPA training.
  • Experience with student grading and providing written feedback.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Spanish grammar.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
The working environment will be adjusted accordingly regarding University policy.


Department Statement

The School of International Letters & Cultures is the primary home for the study of international languages and cultures at ASU. The undergraduate program offers 28 undergraduate degrees and 12 graduate degrees and has approximately 600 majors and 70 graduate students. In addition, the School offers 15 summer study abroad programs. The School assists approximately 8,000 university students each semester and also offers a Translation Certificate program for credit and Bilingual Monthly Certification for teachers in the valley region. The School has a teaching and research staff of approximately 200 faculty, lecturers, instructors, faculty associates, and graduate teaching assistants
