Position Highlights

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) seeks a Instructional Specialist III to help with the installation and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment for a federal grant, as well as support multimedia projects and communications between the Dunbar Pavilion and CDH. This position will work closely with the Site Coordinator at Dunbar Pavilion and CDH, and will report directly to the Project Manager.

The “Project Connect Arizona Now: Digital Inclusion for Underserved Students & Communities of Southern Arizona” grant (AKA “Project CAN”) directly serves: (1) diverse low-income UArizona Distance students by providing for high-tech remote classrooms; in order to access remote educational services; (2) diverse low-income UArizona students wherever they are located who are in need of tech lending services (e.g., laptops, broadband hotspots);and (3) members of the historically underserved Dunbar Spring community who are in need of greater broadband access, digital literacy, and workforce development programming.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager with reporting, as well as gathering analytics on programming efforts and broadband usage. This will include:

  • Administering surveys;
  • Registering attendance at in-person events;
  • Recording access to on-demand services, and similar activities;
  • Assess short courses developed by creators and used by the public;
  • Document modality preferences, and work with the team to establish a template for public programming.

Oversee technical and promotional aspects of the grant's programs. Work with the Dunbar Site Coordinator to schedule and advertise these programs. Assist with the scheduling of public access to lab services, working with the Site Coordinator and volunteers to help manage public events. This may include scheduling short training sessions with developers or staff, assisting others with multimodal recording, and working with providers to record in-person programming.

Work with the Project Manager and Site Coordinators to install, test, and maintain instructional/audio/visual accessories/equipment at Dunbar and CDH. Ensuring interoperability between Dunbar's and CDH's equipment, working with the Project Manager to select and order instructional technology equipment (VR/AR/MR environmental systems are NOT IT equipment that ties to enterprise level etc.), and manage off campus inventory. (COH IT overseeing/managing IT equipment.)

Assist with program design. Work with Site Coordinator, Project Manager and Project Evaluator to assess usage of equipment and various services.

Assist with the development, production and implantation of short courses created by student developers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
