Position Description:

Job Summary

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics has a Instructional Lab Coordinator V position available. This position will conduct molecular biology and next-generation sequencing assays and maintain daily operations of the lab.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervising and training of lab personnel of various lab techniques and experiments.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment for performance.
  • Maintain inventory of the lab, which will consist of sample coordination and organization, ordering and interacting with various scientific vendors for proper lab equipment and reagents.
  • Preparing animal and human tissue for downstream molecular experiments, including tissue dissection, dissociation, and extraction of host and pathogen genetic material.
  • Performing PCR, quantitative PCR, single-cell microfluidics, next-generation sequencing library construction, and quality control analyses.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, next generation sequencing, with a focus on sterile laboratory techniques.

Competencies

Strong interpersonal skills to ensure smooth interactions with vendors, investigators and lab personnel; willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
