Position Summary:       

The Katz School of Science and Health is seeking an instructional designer to join our teaching and learning team. This position supports faculty with best practices for developing engaging and effective content, and teaching across all modalities (on-campus, online, hybrid).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of effective teaching and learning experiences for faculty across all modalities
  • Work with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop educational experiences that are meaningful, easy to use, and engaging, leveraging tools and technologies where appropriate
  • Use the ADDIE model of course development, manage the instructional design process to ensure timely completion of design projects, while maintaining a high end, quality product
  • Conduct quality assurance and evaluation of projects and other related initiatives using the Quality Matters rubric
  • Assist faculty with course maintenance including revising and/or updating course content on an as-needed basis
  • Continuously identifying and evaluating new technologies to support teaching and learning
  • Manage the Teaching and Learning Hub: develop a variety of on-demand and self-guided tutorials; and host in-depth one-on-one sessions and group workshops
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience & Educational Background:

  • MS in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or similar degree
  • At least 4 years of related work experience supporting subject matter experts teaching across all modalities (on-campus, online and hybrid)
  • Demonstrated experience working with graduate fulltime and adjunct faculty; STEM and/or Health Science disciplines preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, Canvas preferred
  • Experience storyboarding using templates or authoring tools, such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative, Cloud, etc.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio/video scripts
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models (specifically ADDIE and Rapid Prototyping)
  • Self-starter, can work independently with limited support and balance multiple competing priorities
