This position is responsible for designing and developing comprehensive and engaging training content for the Local Public Health Intensive Training Program, which focuses on the public health workforce development in the state of Massachusetts. This role requires understanding of public health concepts, instructional design principles, and the ability to craft content that educates and empowers learners.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: (75%)
- Lead the design and development of in person, on-line, virtual and hybrid public health training programs, ensuring alignment with learning objectives.
- Develop high-quality, evidence-based training materials, courses, and resources that align with established learning goals and objectives.
- Design instructional strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and audiences, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
- Incorporate active learning strategies, case studies, real-world examples, and practical exercises to enhance participant engagement and skill application.
- Apply creative communication strategies to simplify complex public health concepts and make them accessible to a wide range of learners.
- Create engaging multimedia content, including written materials, presentations, videos, interactive modules, and assessments.
- Integrate best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design, and public health communication into training content development.
- Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in public health and instructional design to continuously enhance training materials.
- Utilize virtual classroom platforms and technologies to facilitate interactive and engaging online learning experiences.
- Design virtual classroom activities, breakout sessions, and collaborative projects to foster peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing.
Coordination with Partners, Subject Matter Experts and Course Instructors: (15%)
- Respond to input from partner organizations and subject matter experts regarding content and design of courses.
- Engage with experienced instructors who will lead specific training modules or courses.
- Provide orientation and training to partners, instructors and Training Hubs on course content, pedagogical approaches, and technology usage.
- Collaborate with external evaluators to ensure trainings are designed for evaluation.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: (5%)
- Stay current with advancements in online learning technologies and instructional design methodologies, incorporating innovative approaches into training program development.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of training materials, seeking feedback from participants, instructors, and stakeholders, and making iterative improvements.
Reporting and Documentation: (5%)
- Maintain accurate records of training program development, evaluation plans, and certifications.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience. Master's degree in Public Health, and trained in Health Communications and, Instructional Design preferred.
- Strong background in public health concepts, epidemiology, disease prevention, and health promotion.
- Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and content creation for adult learners.
- Experience and use of TRAIN learning management software.
- Proficiency in using instructional design software, e-learning platforms, and multimedia tools such as Storyline, Rise, Vyond, Softchalk, and others.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in public health program development and evaluation.
