SUMMARY:

The Instructional Designer II under general supervision, leads and supports the development and review of new  competency-based online courses. Provides information and training in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices for course developers.  Leads project work, exhibits the ability to multi-task, and collaborate with colleagues. Employment for this position ends 10 months from hire date. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and review new competency-based courses for the College of Innovation and Design.
  • Coordinates regular check-ins with SMEs to ensure new courses meet quality guidelines and production deadlines
  • Schedule course walk-throughs with internal stakeholders
  • Leads faculty and/or staff through the design, development, and review process and makes key recommendations.
  • Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications. Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two years of related experience in instructional design. Experience in Project Management/Coordination.  Knowledge of work processing and spreadsheet applications.  Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.  Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies
  • Ability to: multi-task and work well as part of a team.

  • Other Requirements:  This position will primarily be remote, but occasional travel to Commerce, TX required

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Familiar with competency-based instruction.  Experience with D2L.  Experience in higher education environment.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

May supervise graduate assistants and/or student workers.
