Instructional Designer II - Office of Medical Education

Summary:

This position is part of the School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education, which provides curriculum support for the medical degree program. The instructional designer works collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and staff to support faculty and staff use of the learning management system, lecture capture software, classroom polling  software, and other academic technologies to support all learning experiences on the Omaha and Phoenix Regional Campuses. In consultation with faculty and staff members the designer will apply the appropriate blend of pedagogy  and technology into course design and recommend appropriate learning tools to achieve course objectives based on education research and best practices. The designer will support faculty and staff  development efforts based on sound pedagogic principles, work independently and as a member of a team, establish  positive working relationships with a wide range of people within an academic community.




Qualifications:
MS or MA in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or Related field
2-4 years' related experience in academic learning environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of various operating systems
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Prefer three (3) years experience as an instructional designer preferably including experience working with distance courses and/or providing front-line support for faculty using a learning management system
Demonstrated ability to identify and employ effective pedagogical techniques to achieve learning outcomes in the distance learning environment
Demonstrated ability to provide basic troubleshooting support for faculty use of a learning management system and other instructional technologies
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to individuals and groups in person and virtually
Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills
