What we want

The Instructional Designer I, under general supervision, supports the development of classroom, hybrid or online courses. Assist in the development of training for faculty and/or staff in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in the development of instructional design

  • Knowledge of Canvas.

  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies.

  • Knowledge of various instructional technologies implemented at Texas A&M University.

  • Knowledge of Articulate Storyline 360 or similar rapid online authoring tools.

  • Moderate skill level in the development of instructional materials.

  • Experience in the creation and conducting of instructional media trainings for staff and/or faculty

Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Design and Development: Provides design, development, and quality control of instructional materials provided by Academic Technology, Media & Communications. Assists faculty throughout the design process and make key recommendations based on best practice(s). Manages the overall design and development process for assigned projects. Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and develop sound instructional materials

  • Instructional Design and Development Support: Consults with faculty to assist in the design of instructional materials. Develops trainings, in collaboration with the Instructional Design Team, to assist faculty and staff in the development of sound instructional materials. Develops, in collaboration with the Instructional Design Team, a series of online resources to assist faculty and staff in the development of sound instructional materials

  • Technical Support for Exams: Assist in the delivery of technical support for all in-person and virtual exams. Assist in the deployment of loaner laptops for students. Assist with requests from School of Medicine faculty and staff regarding exams

  • Evaluation of Tools and Software: Evaluation of instructional tools and software prior to implementation. Review and recommend tools and software. Assist faculty and staff in the evaluation of instructional tools and software. Performs other duties as assigned
