Position Overview
The Instructional Designer and Online Courses Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and coordinating high-quality online courses to facilitate effective and engaging learning experiences for our diverse audience. This position will collaborate closely with the Digital Economy Program (DEP) staff to design, develop, and coordinate high-quality online certification courses. These courses will not only engage learners effectively but also equip them with key skills relevant to the digital economy. This role will encompass a spectrum of responsibilities, from managing multiple projects concurrently to providing visually creative, on-brand design solutions. Adhering to creative strategy timelines outlined in project briefs, gathering and implementing feedback and input, and ensuring the seamless execution of technical requirements. In addition, this position will encompass responsibilities for setting up and maintaining online courses within UI Extension’s learning management system (LMS). The role will also extend to recruiting, advising, and monitoring the progress of online students toward course and certification completion.

Position Qualifications


Required Experience
  • One year of experience in instructional design and curriculum development for online courses.
  • Experience in using educational technologies.
  • Experience with pedagogical principles, learning theories, and adult learning concepts.
  • Experience with multimedia content creation tools and techniques.
  • Experience with written communication skills and attention to detail and quality as evidenced by application materials.
  • Project management experience, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with computers and online technology.
  • Experience with collaboration and teamwork.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.

Required Other
Additional Preferred
  • One (1) year of experience using Articulate 360.
  • One (1) year of experience using Adobe Captivate.
  • One (1) year of experience in working with underserved audiences.
  • One (1) year of experience developing and delivering live or online seminars, conferences, courses, or presentations to small and large audiences.
  • Master’s Degree or graduate-level education in education instructional design or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and assessment in an educational context.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience using a variety of technologies/resources to integrate distance learning best practices into course design and instruction.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence voices.
  • Experience creating animation.
  • Experience working in higher education, government, or community services.
  • Ability to read and write fluently in Spanish.
