Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

This position works collaboratively with Washington State University College of Nursing faculty, designated subject matter experts, and designated University departments to design, develop, evaluate, and maintain online, blended, and on-campus courses for academic degree, certificate, and/or professional development programs at the College of Nursing. Courses may be asynchronous self-paced, asynchronous instructor-led, or synchronous online; as well as on-campus or blended (flipped).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Curriculum Design and Compliance (40%)
  • Learning and Design Consultation (30%)
  • Curriculum Evaluation (25%)
  • Miscellaneous (5%)

Required Qualifications:

A Master’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience that has included designing and facilitating learning opportunities for diverse groups, educational assessment, maintaining learning environments and communities (may or may not be technology enhanced), and best practices in teaching and learning; or equivalent combination of education and experience in related areas.

Additional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, education, or other applicable field from an accredited university or college.
  • Two (2) years experience working with faculty or subject matter experts in a learning environment.
  • Experience using software and tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, Wikis, etc. to support development and delivery of multimedia learning objects, graphics, presentations, and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of technical writing, content authoring, content organization, and content mapping.
  • Familiarity with Quality Matters (or other standard) and competency-based learning.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience administering learning management systems.
  • Comfortable working with an iterative design and development process.
  • Enthusiastic willingness to improve knowledge and skills in support of continuous quality self-improvement.
  • Pro-active focus toward identifying solutions and “getting the job done” while being flexible and engaging with regard to projects and collaborating partners.

Monthly Salary: $4508 - $6250.00 depending on qualifications and experience

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position in the College of Nursing. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
