Position Summary:

The FAU Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) is seeking several Instructional Design Assistants, Boca Raton, FL.

The Instructional Design Support staff helps instructional designers develop high-quality courses for all learning environments in a higher education setting. The Instructional Design Assistants for this job are scrappy and resilient and works optimally in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment. They support excellence in course development by becoming familiar with adult learning theory, instructional design theories, and effective assessment practices. Initiative, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication are essential to this position. The Instructional Design Support staff analyzes situations to implement quick and effective solutions in a positive team-based approach. This role will create and manage online technology-based academic content and courses in flexible modalities.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Build multiple courses in Canvas LMS according to COCE quality standards.

  • Communicate with instructional designers to update them on course build progress.

  • Keep track and store required instructional materials for multiple courses as per COCE protocols.

  • Report on assignments using COCE’s protocols and tools.

  • Provide needs-based assistance with completion of departmental instructional projects.

  • Adhere to project plan milestones and deadlines.

  • Adhere to copyright and accessibility compliance guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Professional Development, or related degree and two years in instructional technology, instructional design, or related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Expert knowledge and use of Canvas
Superior organizational, written and verbal communication
Project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads and prioritize tasks.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in the use of Webex, Mediasite, and Microsoft Teams for live lectures, collaboration, and recording/posting course lecture content.
Function and communicate effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
Work well without direct supervision as well as in team environments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:

$22.00 - $28.00 per hour.
