Instructional Content Developer

Overview:
This is a production role, responsible for creating accessible, high quality content for web-enhanced, hybrid and online courses, using universal and instructional design concepts. Working as a team with Instructional Designers and faculty, the Instructional Content Developer will support ongoing course revisions, and new course development, by creating engaging content using the college’s Learning Management System, multimedia, and authoring tools, on behalf of faculty.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Instructional or Educational Technologies, or other related discipline. Experience building content within an LMS (D2L-Brightspace preferred) using LMS features and functionality. Demonstrated expertise using tools for creating and deploying online assessments, creating and modifying web content, editing and authoring multimedia, video and interactive content, creating and deploying test banks and other publisher and OER content packages. Experience with Respondus, Camtasia, YuJa Video Platform, Zoom, VoiceThread or equivalent products, and basic knowledge of HTML. Demonstrated organizational, conceptual and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to quickly and independently research and learn new technologies and software. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a course development team in an academic community, handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:
Experience with online course quality standards such as OSCQR or QM


Nature and Scope of Duties:
• Assists faculty and Instructional Designers by producing and maintaining engaging, high quality, and accessible course content for the LMS (D2L Brightspace) environment for web-enhanced, hybrid, and fully online courses

• Produces lecture content, interactive exercises, assignments, assessments, and multimedia, in collaboration with Instructional Designers, using Respondus, VoiceThread, YuJa Video Platform, Camtasia, Ally, Zoom, and other tools, with and for faculty.

• Supports the ongoing course revision cycle and continual improvement of courses, meeting the OSCQR rubric criteria, producing and updating materials with and for faculty as needed.

• Assists with accessibility tasks prompted by Ally reports, including captions, alt-tags, and semantic structure in documents and course pages

• Converts faculty authored content into digital content and deploys in the LMS

• Builds out OER and publisher packaged content into accessible, well-designed course structures in the LMS as needed by faculty

• Works with the Instructional Designers to test and pilot technology-based learning materials

• Supports faculty and Instructional Designers in the adaptation of full semester online/hybrid/remote/web-enhanced course structures into 3-, 6-, 8- and 12-week versions for alternative schedules

• Supports “just-in-time” edits and modifications to course content for rapid redeployment as needed

• Participates in professional development activities such as workshops and conferences in order to keep current in instructional uses of technology and new software

• Provides some backup support for Help Desk phone and emails as needed.

• Performs related duties as assigned by the Director for Distance and Online Learning

This is a Full-Time position with a salary range of $54,000-$58,000.
