Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Content Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing instructional content for online and hybrid implementation, creating interactive media content, and building content modules in various learning systems and platforms using a variety of software applications. Your expertise will support professional, regulatory,and academic programs, ensuring effective communication of course design, application of learning objectives/outcomes, monitoring of course progress, inclusion of supportive learning activities and assessments, and selection of appropriate technologies and tools to achieve academic goals.
Responsibilities:

  • Apply professional instructional design skills to effectively communicate course design, learning objectives/outcomes, and monitor course progress.
  • Create interactive learning activities, video, and audio components to enhance multimedia content.
  • Oversee the production of course content according to an established schedule and meeting ADA requirements.
  • Deploy content on learning management platforms, including ILT and Online, by uploading, testing, maintaining, and optimizing new and recurring learning activities.
  • Support Learning Management System (LMS) learners, instructors, and facilitators by troubleshooting problems, researching, and developing solutions for improved LMS functionality and user engagement/usability in the system.
  • Collaborate with team members in a diverse environment and at all levels of the organization to prioritize work assignments, conduct analysis, and develop recommendations.
  • Demonstrate diplomacy and tact in all communications.

Department Description

The purpose of the Learning and Organization Development department is to Lead Talent Development Strategies which Inspire professional excellence, and Attract, develop, and retain outstanding and diverse people, who together Advance health worldwide. The department offers comprehensive professional development experiences for supervisory and non-supervisory team members to facilitate talent management. It also creates custom e-learning solutions, blended learning and other technology-enabled solutions tailored for performance improvement. Through organization development consulting, the department enables UCSF leaders to increase their departments' effectiveness through needs assessments, consulting, and facilitation in many areas, such as:
•           Engagement
•           Strategic planning
•           Team/department performance
•           Change management
•           Executive coaching and
•           Leader transitions into new roles; and through career development initiatives that include enhancing career paths, the department furthers workforce development and supports UCSF’s role as an Anchor Institution.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 3 or more years of directly related work experience; and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
  • Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
  • Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and educational methodologies.
  • Advanced level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.
  • Knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training
