Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University seeks applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time position of Instructional Assistant Professor of Chemistry, effective August 2023. The chemistry program is home to a diverse group of faculty with specializations in a broad range of fields, including physical, organic, analytical, and biochemistry. The program houses undergraduate degrees characterized by personalized education, small class sizes, innovative teaching, and strong student-faculty interactions. Instructional faculty play critical roles in the program for teaching, pedagogy, advising, and service. In addition, instructional faculty have the opportunity for promotion to associate and full professor, are senate-eligible, and have full votes at both the program and college levels. Qualifications: Requirements include a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Education (including chemistry education research), or a related field, and a strong teaching record. Candidates who are ABD must have Ph.D. conferred by start date. Candidates with a strong track record of teaching are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: The candidate’s primary teaching responsibility will be inorganic chemistry, a core requirement for the American Chemical Society (ACS) certified Chemistry major. The candidate will also teach general chemistry or organic chemistry classes and be expected to contribute to upper division coursework.
