The Honors College at the University of Houston invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor. The position is promotion-eligible, non-tenure track, to begin in Fall 2024. We seek applicants with experience teaching core texts and major works within a great books approach, with a preferred specialization in either Classics or European Intellectual History. A Ph.D. completed by Spring 2024 is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
The teaching responsibilities for this position include three classes each semester: two discussion sections each semester in the Honors College’s signature first-year course, The Human Situation (https://www.uh.edu/honors/human-situation/ ), and a third course each semester in one of our interdisciplinary minors (https://www.uh.edu/honors/Programs-Minors/honors-minors/ ). The Human Situation is team-taught by scholars from a variety of humanities disciplines. Faculty lead small, writing-intensive discussion sections and take turns teaching in a large, combined lecture section. The responsibilities of the position include 70% teaching, 20% service, and 10% research.
