Primary Purpose
The Instructional Assistant will serve as an Instructional and Lab Assistant; assist the primary course instructor in the education of students using state approved criteria to teach, select and conduct hands on learning experiences appropriate for meeting objective for the classroom. Under direction of and providing support to faculty by preparing labs, organizing supplies/equipment, and observing student performance and testing.
Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory environments for instruction by assembling necessary resources.
  • Assist faculty with demonstrations, observation, and evaluation of student essential skills performance.
  • Maintain records of activities undertaken in the laboratory which may include typing forms, inputting data or otherwise retaining information regarding students and their progress in meeting instructional goals.
  • Reinforce knowledge and skills introduced by the course faculty.
  • Clean and maintain instructional lab equipment.
  • Cleanup of laboratory sessions.
  • Support department faculty with copying class materials, stapling, and hole-punching; sort papers and/or supplies.

  • Experience with medical assisting equipment and ordering of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks daily.
  • Ergonomic Requirements
    Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
    Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Persons in this position may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Current, active Massage Therapy license in Oregon.
  • Two years of Massage Therapy
    • Certifications/Licensing: LMT

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Continuing education or courses in a related field.
    • Prior work experience of approximately 5 years’ experience in teaching or assisting in a classroom setting.
    • CPR/First Aid Certificate.
