Description

 

Designs, plans, and conducts institutional research for the University of Houston for the purpose of decision support. Applies advance knowledge of design in conducting complex institutional research studies. Uses research methodology and analysis, including problem definition, study design, data collection, and analysis.

  • Compiles and analyzes data for strategic planning and program development.
  • Assembles data sets from multiple institutional sources.
  • Designs models and conducts statistical and other quantitative data analysis.
  • Prepares descriptive and inferential statistics and analyses.
  • Consults and provides guidance on design, data collection, analyzing and reporting research studies.
  • Designs, develops and implements new survey research.
  • Coordinates with faculty and researchers on special reports, projects and analyses as requested.
  • Participates in focus groups and team projects.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors and 3 years experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

    Experience will not be considered in lieu of education.

    The ideal candidate for this position would possess the following:

    • Higher Education experience.
    • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, exercise excellent judgement, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and adapt to shifting priorities in diverse settings.
    • Ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures.
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge and experience with a statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R, Stata) or another programming language.
    • Experience with Tableau visualization and Qualtrics survey tools.
