Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice Student Assistant

Job Summary:

The USF Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice (INSJ) is seeking a Student Assistant to support the administrative work of the Institute.

Full Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of INSJ, the Student Assistant will provide administrative support to INSJ. This individual will support the planning, promotion, and organization of all matters relating to the Institute. All work will be pre-approved by the Director.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Attend regular staff meetings

  • Provide general administrative support to the staff (i.e., filing, organizing, scheduling, updating calendars, etc.)

  • Develop and co-manage the Institute’s social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook)

  • Assist with planning and logistics for programmatic and fundraising events

  • Create event-related marketing and advertisement materials (i.e., social media post, calendar banner images, etc.)

  • Engage in research activities related to INSJ programs and events

  • Help with special projects as needed

  • Approach INSJ engagement with enthusiasm and consistent effort

Qualifications:

  • All students welcomed 

  • Federal work study coverage encouraged

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently

  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel

  • Experience with Google Drive and Calendar

  • Aptitude for learning systems (Cvent, USFBlogs, EMMA, etc.)

  • Experience with graphic design is a plus

  • Strong organizational skills are a plus

Candidates with experience in event planning and social media management preferred.
