Institute Associate, Georgetown Climate Center - Georgetown University Law Center

The Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) , based at Georgetown University Law Center, seeks to advance effective climate, energy, and transportation policies in the United States-policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help communities adapt to climate change. For ten years, the Center has worked at the nexus of state and federal climate and energy policy to inform federal policies with the lessons of state and local communities and to serve as a resource to the states and local governments we serve.

GCC is seeking a motivated Institute Associate who will work on both adaptation and mitigation policy projects. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting legal analysis;
  • Facilitating state engagement processes;
  • Providing superior  research and writing support;
  • Representing GCC at local, state, and national events; and
  • Assisting with the supervision  of student research on relevant climate topics.


  • Advanced degree required
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience in adaptation or mitigation climate policy
  • Working knowledge of topics related to resilience, power sector, transportation, and clean energy required
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a small team.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong research, written and verbal skills are also required.

Preferred qualification:

  • Juris Doctor degree (J.D.)
