Infrastructure Project Manager
About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the technical needs of the Burnes Center, including: software selection, website and database development and management and especially the Center's online course development and management. Also conducts basic or applied research on critical or difficult problems involving the development of new theories or methodologies. Position involves budget management responsibility. The person will manage staff, consultants and contractors engaged in Burnes center projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters in Software Engineering or Computer Engineering plus 6 - 8 years' experience in one or more of the following:
- developing on-line databases
- developing open-source tools and platforms for online citizen engagement
- website development
- Experience in producing online courses including developing Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferably Moodle and/or OpenEdX
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical terms to non-technical staff
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working alone and in teams
- Previous experience with research/writing desirable
- Previous experience in an academic or non-profit environment preferred
- Previous experience with the Burnes Center is highly preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1)
Project Management
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility; Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Articulate complex projects into structured phases and sprints to prioritize speed, improvements, and enhancements; develop detailed comprehensive project plans to monitor and track progress.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
- Manage the relationship with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects. Ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Supervise a team of research assistants working on a variety of projects related to executive education programs and open innovation projects.
- Lead a team of developers to develop web assets.
- Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
2)
Research, Content Development and Coaching:
- Develop and deliver content for training offerings including MOOCs as well as online and in-person coaching programs related to using new technologies for solving public problems.
- Publish original research about improving how institutions tackle public problems especially using new approaches involving artificial intelligence, big and open data, citizen science and crowdsourcing, and social and behavioral insights.
- Train RAs and interns on data and content management tools like Airtable and Directus.
- Select, onboard, and continually developstaff in a way that creates an environment that inspires employees to do their best work. Sets clear goals and expectations, delegates work effectively. Provides timely feedback about performance throughout the year.
3)
Burnes Center Operations:
- Organize online and in-person events including conferences, workshops and lectures.
- Onboard and offboard staff including granting/revoking their access to online tools and services for various projects. Train RAs and interns on data and content management tools like Airtable and Directus.
- Manage related OTPS budget.
