About the Department | The 900+ positions of the Facilities Division service the students and staff of the university’s teaching, research/administrative space, and 2,240 acres of infrastructure. The Facilities Division provides design and building services, maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail, and motor pool services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal is to deliver cost-effective services to the university, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations, and minimize university liabilities and disruptions caused by the university’s maintenance, repair and building, and equipment modifications. Campus Planning and Strategic Investment (CP) optimize the design and use of campus land, buildings, and infrastructure to support the university’s mission. Through collaborative planning and data-driven analysis, CP ensures financial and environmental stewardship while planning for the university’s current and future needs. The unit is responsible for developing and implementing the university’s physical master plan, site design, space planning, infrastructure planning, and other planning efforts that guide the development of the physical campus. The unit leads the capital planning effort including the biennial Capital Budget Request for appropriated projects guided by the university’s strategic plan, projected enrollment growth, and academic space growth projections. CP coordinates the implementation of the capital improvement plan in the context of the University’s approved physical master plan and is responsible for the campus design, architectural design quality, space planning, analysis, and management. CP is responsible for Facilities Information System Management. This includes the development and maintenance of databases to track physical campus data used for decision-making, reporting, and benchmarking. It includes space, building condition, building floor plans and maps, architectural and engineering as-built records, survey accurate mapping, utility data, geographic information system development and maintenance, and coordination of access to this information. |
