The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent research center at the University of Washington. Its mission is to deliver to the world timely, relevant, and scientifically valid evidence to improve health policy and practice. IHME has an outstanding opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Enterprise Technology team. 

POSITION PURPOSE
In this pivotal role, the individual will have the responsibility of overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Institute’s co-location space at UW datacenters, ensuring it operates with utmost efficiency and security. They will play a critical role in managing all aspects of our conference room technology, making certain that all devices and systems are in perfect working order and that users experience no hindrances while utilizing the available technology. In charge of monitoring all installed systems ranging from servers to desktop computers, the Operations Manager will be the vanguard ensuring high levels of availability and uncompromised security across all platforms.

This role is not just about management; it's about leadership. The Operations Manager will provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the Enterprise Technology team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. Their collaboration with vendors and contractors will be pivotal in assuring service deliveries that are both efficient and cost-effective. Furthermore, they will spearhead the planning and execution of system upgrades and rollouts, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions. Above all, they will champion the development and enforcement of policies and procedures that fortify the protection of IHME's invaluable IT assets and data. The role of the Operations Manager at IHME presents multifaceted challenges and responsibilities. Not only are they responsible for the smooth operation and security of the Institute’s data center, they also navigate the intricacies of conference room technology management, ensuring seamless user experiences. Balancing high system availability with security demands across multiple platforms requires deep technical proficiency and proactive oversight. Additionally, this role necessitates a strategic approach to budgeting, vendor relations, and system upgrades, while simultaneously providing leadership and fostering team growth. In essence, the Operations Manager operates at the crossroads of technology, finance, leadership, and strategy, making it a role replete with complexities that demand a versatile and forward-thinking approach.

This position is contingent on project funding availability, and currently has anticipated funding through at least the end of June 2026.
