The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities.  We execute this mission through research, training & technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership.

Job Overview

The Information Technology Support Specialist (ITSS) provides information and resources support to project faculty and staff in an effort to build the technology capacity of the Center; and assists the Manager of Instructional & Information Technologies (MITT) in the use of technology in meeting the Center’s training and technical assistance goals. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary first tier hardware and software support for the 75+ faculty, staff and students of the GUCCHD
  • Provide support for fully online virtual programming; and as necessary, provide in-person IT support as necessary
  • Provide a range of technical services, including basic to advanced hardware troubleshooting for team members, software support, mobile device support and video services
  • Maintain the GUCCHD inventory and ensure that all computers and software are within warranty and in compliance with University guidelines
  • Serve as part of the Information Technology team, and as need, work with other team members on other Center priorities and technologies

Work Interactions

Reporting to the MIIT and Administrator of the GUCCHD, the ITTSS serves a key role that interacts with all faculty, staff, and students in support of research, training, and technical assistance. They collaborate with UIS, internal and external partners and vendors, the GUCCHD Communications team and meet regularly with the MIIT.

The ITSS works both independently and within a team, employment excellent time management skills with a focus on work process and output. They work both online/virtually and in-person to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner in support of teleworking employees located throughout the United States and  - when necessary - providing in-person This position reports to the MIIT and Administrator of the GUCCHD.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency – preference for Bachelor’s degree
  • 4 years of experience in IT, providing desktop support services – preferably in higher education
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Window and Apple OSX
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe, Zoom and other productivity software
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with a keen interest to enhance program process and outputs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact and communicate in a positive manner with diverse stakeholders (who may include individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities) - explaining clear instructions, exhibiting patience, answering questions
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Location within the DMV (District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia) for presence in the office when required
