Job Summary

As a technical expert in tuberculosis (TB) control, the nurse consultant will provide clinical and case management consultation for patients with TB to ensure the best chance for cure for each case, to minimize adverse effects, and to halt the transmission of TB in California. The incumbent will be part of a multidisciplinary program liaison team for a broad geographic region within the state.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.


Required Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of the clinical and operational issues in infection control, including policies, regulatory requirements, surveillance and investigation methodologies, data collection, epidemiology, microbiology, patient care, and related nursing issues. Thorough knowledge of data management, analysis, research, reporting, and documentation methods used in infection control, with the ability to contribute to studies, investigations, reports, presentations, and the development of new infection control protocols and policies. Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on schedule. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with patients, families, employees, and outside personnel. Strong ability to effectively convey complex clinical, technical, and educational information both verbally and in writing, and to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel. Proven ability to work with management and staff across departments and to serve as an information resource, providing advice and recommendations on complex issues of functionality, clinical quality, efficiency, and program development.
