Description
The Dental Hygiene Program invites applications for a full-time nine-month position as Infection Control Specialist, with 3-5 years’ as a dental assistant or like experience. We seek an experienced individual to ensure the full operation of a 20-unit dental hygiene clinic and a full functioning simulation and materials laboratory. The candidate will be expected to establish knowledge of all CDC Guidelines for infection control and to provide support to faculty and students in all aspects of clinical operations. The Infection Control Specialist assists students with Dentrix and direct digital radiography systems.

This is a continuous full-time nine-month position, offering year-round benefits. This role spans from the third week of August to the middle of May. The expected pay is $23.00 per hour. 
Responsibilities
  • Keep all autoclaves up-to-date with maintenance and record spore tests weekly.
  • Troubleshoot, basic repair and maintenance of 20 dental units and simulation stations.
  • Manage clinic and lab inventory and keep clinic organized, stocked and clean.
  • Check compliance with safety equipment monthly and record, e.g. eyewash stations, medical emergency kit, radiation, and signage.
  • Assist faculty and students to assure proper infection control, PPE, and training.
  • Organize instrument and supply storage systems for students.
  • Maintain and analyze information for inventory control, radiation safety, and sterilization.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Audits.
  • Work with various University offices to ensure compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, Higher Education 2-4 years and any combination of education, training or experience with 3-5 Years’ Experience as a Dental Assistant or Certified Registered Dental Assistant (DANB) or Advanced certification in sterilization (Infection Control Training)
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments and equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with practice management software and the ability to make reports
  • Radiology Certified or the ability to be certified
  • Inventory Control and ability to work with vendors
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and patients
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and logs
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, CDC, OSHA, SDS and MEDSAFE guidelines
