Individual/Independent Consultant - Education Statistics

AIR is currently seeking to establish an ongoing relationship with new Independent Consultants to support a federal client. This is a flexible contract position that will be about 20 hours per week. AIR will contract directly with the Independent Consultants under a consulting purchase order agreement. 

 

Location: This position is remote but in-person attendance for some meetings might be needed.

Work activities will include the following:

  • Assist Director in developing, updating, and monitoring federal client’s annual budget.
  • Assist Director in developing, updating, and monitoring the client’s portfolio; includes tracking activities assigned to individual team members; also includes linking to the budget.
  • Assist Director and other team members in developing, updating, and monitoring performance targets on a quarterly basis.
  • Attend and take notes for select meetings with federal client, including:
  • Weekly team meetings.
  • Monthly meetings with team members involved with statistical survey collections; and those involved with evaluation, monitoring and research projects.
  • Monthly/ quarterly meetings with other offices.
  • Assist Director in developing presentation materials (e.g, PowerPoint slides) for team, executives, Board Directors, and/or other key stakeholders, including semi-annual Board meetings as time and resources allow:
  • Peer-review and copy-edit manuscripts and other products being produced by the client.
  • Conduct research as part of response to specific stakeholder information requests.


  • Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

    • A minimum of 4 years of administrative experience – preferably in a research or consulting field
    • Flexibility and ability to consistently meet deadlines while juggling multiple priorities
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with individuals from diverse backgrounds
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and excellent typing skills
    • Ability to keep information confidential
    • Effective communicator
    • Ability to attend some in-person meetings in the Washington, D.C. area
