Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Acting on behalf of and in consultation with the Statesman editor-in-chief, duties include: § Assisting the editor-in-chief in recruiting, training and managing photographers. § Assigning photographers to assignments as needed to ensure successful and timely completion. § Coordinating with writers to supply coverage for events. § Overseeing editing of all photographs. § Ensuring all photographers understand and adhere to standards for professional and ethical behavior. § Ensuring the Statesman is provided with high-quality photos as scheduled. § Confirming that all individuals in photos are identified. § Providing cutline information to design editors. § Setting up and maintaining a database for all photos and identifiers. § Ensuring photographers know how to check out Statesman camera equipment § Maintaining camera equipment, and reporting damaged equipment or necessary repairs to the director of student publications. § Attending budget meetings set by the editor-in-chief. § Checking messages and other communication, including Statesman email, on a daily basis. § Working with the ISU Athletics Department to secure media passes for coverage of athletic events. § Working with other members of the Student Media staff as appropriate. § Responding to public inquiries as needed. § Other duties as needed or assigned by the Statesman editor-in-chief. |
