Summary:
The Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE) is seeking students to serve as Inclusive Excellence Ambassadors for the 2026–2027 academic year. Inclusive Excellence Ambassadors are student leaders who help advance inclusive excellence by increasing awareness of the Office's programs, services, and educational initiatives through outreach, communications, relationship-building, and campus engagement.
Working alongside the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team, Ambassadors serve as the public-facing representatives of the Office. Through tabling, classroom and student organization presentations, event support, strategic communications, and outreach, Ambassadors help connect students with resources and educational opportunities while promoting a culture of inclusive excellence across the university.
This position is ideal for students who enjoy engaging with others, building relationships, representing their community, and creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
Essential Functions:
1.) Outreach & Student Engagement
Serve as a visible representative of the Office of Inclusive Excellence and the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team.
Build relationships with students, student organizations, and campus departments to increase awareness of OIE programs, services, and educational opportunities.
Table at campus events, resource fairs, involvement fairs, and other outreach opportunities.
Conduct outreach to encourage participation in workshops, events, educational programs, and campus initiatives.
Deliver brief presentations to classrooms and student organizations to introduce the Office of Inclusive Excellence, promote available resources, and encourage student engagement.
2.) Communications & Awareness
Assist with planning and implementing social media campaigns that promote educational initiatives, campus events, and Office resources.
Collaborate with Inclusive Excellence Peer Educators to translate educational content into engaging and accessible outreach materials.
Assist in creating promotional materials for workshops, awareness campaigns, and signature Office initiatives.
Help amplify the visibility of the Office of Inclusive Excellence through strategic communications and marketing efforts.
3.) Event Planning & Program Support
Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing educational programs, awareness campaigns, and campus events.
Support event logistics, including set-up, registration, welcoming participants, event management, and tear-down.
Represent the Office of Inclusive Excellence at university events, collaborative meetings, and campus initiatives as requested.
Assist with the successful implementation of signature Office of Inclusive Excellence programs throughout the academic year.
4.) Strategic Initiatives & Research
Conduct research to support future educational programs, outreach initiatives, and engagement strategies.
Identify opportunities for collaboration by researching student organizations, campus departments, and leadership structures (e.g., organizations with diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, or belonging-focused leadership positions or committees).
Assist with environmental scans, benchmarking, and data collection to inform future programming and outreach efforts.
Share recommendations and insights with the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team to strengthen student engagement and program development.
5.) Collaboration & Professional Development
Attend regular team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with Inclusive Excellence Peer Educators and professional staff to support educational initiatives and campus engagement efforts.
Complete ongoing training in inclusive leadership, communication, outreach strategies, event planning, and student engagement.
Contribute ideas that strengthen the Office's visibility, student engagement, and educational impact.
6.) Other Duties Assigned
Initial and ongoing training.
Campus outreach and relationship-building.
Tabling and engagement activities.
Classroom and student organization presentations.
Social media planning and content development.
Event planning, set-up, support, and tear-down.
Research projects supporting future programs and initiatives.
Team meetings and planning sessions.
Representing the Office of Inclusive Excellence at campus events and collaborative initiatives.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
5 - 10 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$18.40 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Student must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Interest in student engagement, campus leadership, outreach, communications, marketing, or event planning.
Confidence in public speaking or a willingness to develop presentation skills.
Creativity, initiative, and enthusiasm for promoting educational opportunities and campus resources.
Commitment to advancing inclusive excellence and fostering respectful engagement across the university community.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in student organizations, leadership positions, customer service, orientation programs, peer leadership, or event planning is preferred but not required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Inclusive Excellence Ambassadors are expected to work 5 - 10 hours per week, depending on programming needs throughout the academic year.
The contract length will be from September 8, 2026 - May 7, 2027.
Work schedules will vary throughout the semester based on programming priorities and campus events.
