Position Overview
The INBRE/COBRE Program Manager supports the planning of educational, outreach or professional programs; working with program stakeholders, to plan and oversee program activities. This full-time position will be shared equally (50/50) between the COBRE and INBRE Program, both administered by the University of Idaho. The primary duties for the COBRE portion will be related to data collection, program evaluation, report creation, and event support. The primary INBRE portion of the position will be financial and event support. Both the COBRE and INBRE programs are governed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a federal agency supporting research aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Americans.

Position Qualifications


Required Experience
  • Two years of program coordination or program management experience
  • Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Collecting, compiling, summarizing, and analyzing data for administrative reports

Required Education
  • Bachelors Degree; four additional years of program coordination or program management experience (for a total of six years) may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree

Required Other
  • Ability to travel to local/regional locations occasionally

Additional Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • Three years of financial or business operations management
  • Experience with/in
    • Higher education and a working knowledge of University of Idaho administrative policies and procedures
    • Business management principles and practices, including supervisory practices
    • Serving as liaison with other university units and colleges
    • Exercising judgment in a fast paced, dynamic, team environment while fostering positive relationships, teamwork and cooperation among students, faculty, staff and administrators across campus
    • Proficiency with Banner, VandalWeb and other university systems
    • Familiarity with the UI VERAS system, Grants.gov, Research.gov and other grant agency input platforms
    • Administering a major grant program including managing reporting activities and interpreting and applying terms and conditions of grants and contracts
    • Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
    • Establishing internal financial systems with audit controls and making decisions regarding authorization or rejection of expenditures/disbursements
    • Independent, simultaneous management of multiple time-sensitive projects requiring a high degree of accuracy
    • Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in the application materials
    • Compiling accounting information in spreadsheet software and preparing summaries and financial reports
    • Using computer software and applications for word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet searches and data organization
    • Experience organizing events such as symposia and external advisory board meeting
