Summary of Job Duties:

This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. This is a temporary position - not benefits eligible.
The In-House Agency ST Program offers PRN employment in the Main Operating Room for 13-week intervals.
Participants are required to work 36 hours/week for 13 weeks and will be paid an hourly rate plus night/weekend differentials.
Applicants cannot be currently employed by UAMS, and previous UAMS employees must have terminated more than 180 days prior.
Assembles supplies for surgical procedures, maintains the sterile field, passes surgical instruments, and assists in room preparation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of accredited Scrub Technologist school/program OR surgical scrub tech training through the military and 24months experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Experience in the past 24months must include 12 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of the surgical procedure: Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for assigned cases.

  • Preparation of the OR: Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for use.

  • Case Completion and Follow up: Ensures that the instruments are cleaned arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy; independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits; Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day’s cases; Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects.

  • Professional Performance: Utilizes available communication tools; demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members; Shares knowledge information and expertise with other staff; attends departmental in-services and other educational offerings; consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.

  • Support advanced endoscopic procedures after validated competency based on shift assignment.

  • Scrubbing for surgical procedures, includes assembling and preparing supplies Assists in circulating duties with an RN
