Job Summary
The University Information and Technology, Administrative Modernization Program (AMP) is seeking an Implementation Lead. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE),12-month, professional faculty position.
As a key driver of the Oregon State University (OSU) digital and business transformation effort, the Administrative Modernization Program (AMP) Implementation Lead will be responsible for managing the AMP program office’s implementation of re-engineered core business processes into a modern, cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technical solution to enable better institutional agility and an exceptional, user-friendly experience for the OSU community. This position will serve as a key member of the AMP team in University Information and Technology. Responsibilities of this position include the following:
  • Serving as the primary interface for external consultant managers with expertise in business process improvement and ERP system implementation.
  • Working closely with the Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Office (EPPMO) to provide program office process expertise for the AMP Executive Director.
  • Managing program schedule, resources, and deliverable submissions.
  • Delivering clear reporting about the AMP portfolio’s status, risks and issues.
  • Facilitating decisions and helping people resolve or escalate issues in accordance with the governance structure.
  • Overseeing testing efforts that validate configured ERP solutions meet defined requirements.
  • Tracking the performance of the AMP portfolio, including the status of active projects and the benefits realized by completed projects.

The 3–5-year AMP initiative at OSU will transform and fully digitize all administrative processes at the university. AMP will transform OSU into a fully digital university, rebuilding its entire administrative technology environment to facilitate efficient and modern transactions among staff, students, and faculty. This effort will modernize the university’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (replacing Banner and additional applications), re-engineer core administrative HR, finance, planning and budgeting, post-award grant management, and student tools and processes, and deploy automated workflows in the cloud. This process will also include documenting and updating any new or existing policies associated with these processes. This light and lean cloud-based approach enables better institutional agility and adaptability, exceptionally user-friendly design for students, faculty, staff, and administration who interact with OSU. It also provides OSU the opportunity to lower the cost and time burden of administrative processes.
OSU’s approach will reimagine and redesign core administrative processes with a human centric design framework based on full automation, alignment with industry best practices, and desired customer journeys. This approach will require significant organizational change management, community member engagement across and outside of the organization, and a strong commitment to equity, inclusivity, and accessibility to design solutions for a broad and diverse collection of customers and community members. We will not undertake this ambitious work alone – OSU will collaborate with industry partners specializing in higher education to deliver on our pioneering vision. We will document every step of our process to support and guide other Oregon institutions who may pursue similar transformative efforts.
OSU University Information and Technology (UIT) has a deep commitment to and belief in the strength and value of diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA) both throughout our team and as an intentional and active practice to advance the vision, mission and strategic efforts of the entire university. As a member of the UIT community, the person in this position is expected to foster and promote the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in their work.
Please note all UIT team members are expected to meet the following commitments:
  • UIT commits to deliver data as a strategic working asset and to enable data informed decision making across OSU. UIT leaders and staff lead by example and use data to inform decision making at all levels in the organization. Persons in technology roles are also expected to design systems with data portability in mind and work within enterprise architecture and privacy guidelines.
  • Proactively securing and protecting OSU’s digital assets and information systems are crucial to our missions of teaching and learning, research, and extension and engagement. All OSU IT professionals are directly responsible for providing high quality and secure IT systems and services. Persons in technology roles are expected to be responsive to security related actions and requirements and to collaborate to find secure ways to support the OSU community.
