Immune System Crosstalk, Engineering Innovative Biomaterials & Immunotherapies

Updated: about 2 years ago
Location: Philadelphia, PENNSYLVANIA
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

University of Pennsylvania & Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Position Description:

The MA LAB for immune engineering and translational immunology at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking talented and dedicated post-doctoral fellows to join our innovative laboratory to carry out cutting-edge research on immune system crosstalk and engineer innovative biomaterials, protein and cell-based immunotherapies.

We are a highly interdisciplinary team working at the interface of immunology and engineering. We leverage 1) Chemical and biomaterials engineering to dissect and manipulate immune cell-cell and cell-tissue crosstalk to enhance cellular therapy and promote vaccine development, 2) Genetic engineering and synthetic immunology to create intelligent cells that integrate environmental cues for decision making, 3) Protein engineering to develop safe and potent immune-modulatory proteins and nanostructures with desired trafficking profile, release kinetics, enhanced or novel functions.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) degree in biomedical sciences or bioengineering. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and have the ability to work independently, exercise discretion and communicate effectively. We are currently seeking candidates with experience in immunology, molecular biology, genomics or genetic engineering.

Successful candidates will benefit from the thriving and collegial UPenn/CHOP research community, tailored career development guidance, state-of-the-art research facilities and excellent benefits package.
