Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Imaging Informatics Department is responsible for assuring that the clinical cardiology, general diagnostic imaging and imaging reporting systems that are used within the Medical Center are safe and effective. This includes all aspects of training, acquisition, implementation, maintenance and repair of the equipment. The staff of Imaging Informatics works with Clinical Departments, Clinical Engineering, Information Technology and hospital staff to ensure the integrity of the Imaging systems. Imaging Informatics staff is involved in the ongoing task of evaluating workflow and application capability to maximize the use of the available technology.
Clinical image viewing, reporting systems are used throughout the Enterprise for processing and storing all imaging-related patient activities, as well as maintaining medical record/image information specific to imaging areas. These sites include, OSUH Radiology, East Radiology, James Care Mammography, Stoneridge Imaging, Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza Imaging Center, Maternal/Fetal Medicine, Spine Center, Care Point at Gahanna, Lewis Center and Gowdy and Ultrasound services. The PACS network is used throughout the enterprise for storage, viewing and diagnostic reporting of patient images.
POSITION SUMMARY
Assists in the analysis, development, installation, implementation and support of all components of the imaging information systems and solutions. Assists in the day-to-day support of the systems as well as integration of the system with system interfaces, hardware, software, performance criteria and proactively addressing any system issues. Imaging Informatics Analyst works with the other members of the Imaging Informatics team to ensure maintenance and integrity of PACS Services. The regular assessment of data provided by systems reports to evaluate, track and trend the operation of the systems, in general. The reconciliation of data provided by these reports and maintaining user databases to insure currency and accuracy. Acts as a technical resource with clinical knowledge and computer expertise to coordinate and provide support for all new and current applications and software upgrades applicable to the clinical systems. Creating and maintaining record tracking departments within Imaging Information Systems when expansion of services outside existing departments occurs. Conducts assessments of the imaging environment and identifies implications for system implementations, and may act as a facilitator for those changes in the imaging environment. Implements training plans, and constructs content for education for appropriate clinical, physician, clerical, information systems and support staff.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree
Required Qualifications
A college degree in Radiology Technology or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically has 0-4 years experience in Clinical or Information Technology Operations. Extensive experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business, clinical and technical requirements. Knowledge of program logic, analysis, specification design, language selection and report formatting. Work experience in developing technical and user documentation. Knowledge and experience with hospital systems and business practices. Ability to assist other team members with their technical issues. Must be able to keep self abreast of technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends.
