Job Summary
The Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEAL) Program Manager will serve as the principal administrative leader for the office. In partnerships with executive leadership, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the PED. The incumbent influences engagement in diversity and inclusion projects and programs to help build an internal organization that embraces and demonstrates DEI and represents UCDCCC as a collaborative community partner. The program manager will work on a variety of diversity initiatives, implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices, develop communication plans, and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Key roles for the program manager will be to develop strategies and tactics, collect and analyze DEI metrics, and evaluate DEI climate at the Cancer Center. These activities may include but are not limited to the development of councils and committees, documenting best practices, and partnering with the Office of Education, Training and Career Development's to develop training and mentoring opportunities for junior, early- and mid-career researchers from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) or more years of relevant experience or relevant diversity, equity and inclusion certification.
  • Experience facilitating education and training around sensitive and IDEAL related topics.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing programs.
  • Experience implementing practices around diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism, into systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong project management, process improvement, and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competency skills and experience working cross-culturally.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, contributing to an inclusive working, and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, navigate, and address challenges associated with DEI and anti-racism work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, collaborate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs and applies it to the completion of related assignments.
  • Ability to plan, design, develop, and implement innovative and strategies and solutions in a matrix environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to conduct program assessments, identify needs, requirements, and develop process improvement recommendations for the successful implementation of plans/ strategies to enhance diversity.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills necessary to collect data, analyze it, and develop substantive reports.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of administrative management, including organization, planning, staffing, training, and reporting
  • Knowledge of program and curriculum planning, development, and high level of expertise regarding evaluation methods
  • Proficiency with Tableau, or other data visualization tools

Department Description
The University of California, Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, and an Organized Research Unit (ORU) under the Office of Research. UCDCCC is a clinical and research enterprise consisting of over 270 faculty members from the Davis, Sacramento, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory campuses with research funding totaling $58M.
The Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEAL) Office is a newly established office established to oversee the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant's (CCSG) Plan to Enhance Diversity (Plan to Enhance Diversity) activities. IDEAL's goals are to enhance the participation of women, minorities, and individuals from groups nationally under-represented in the research workforce, center leadership, and advisory boards of the UCDCCC.
