Exceptional technology and science fellows are matched up with an International Business Machines (IBM) mentor to intern at an IBM research lab for 1-3 years. Fellowships are awarded annually for study at any university world-wide. The IBM Fellowship Program is intended to honor exceptional PhD students in disciplines of mutual interest, fundamental to innovation and on demand business. IBM hopes to retain doctoral students with an interest in problem solving, by making connections with colleges and technical faculty. This fellowship is renewable.

AM I ELIGIBLE?
Students must be enrolled full-time in a college or university PhD program. Must be nominated by a doctoral faculty member who will write a supporting statement. Faculty member submits student's CV. Faculty sends department head's supporting statement. Faculty member submits PhD thesis title and work. Must be enrolled full-time. Should have completed at least 1 year of study in a doctoral program at the time of nomination. IBM values diversity in the workplace and encourages nominations of women, minorities and all who contribute to that diversity. IBM pays special attention to the following study areas: Technology that creates new business or social value. Innovative software. New types of computers. Interdisciplinary projects that create social and business value. The internship is not mandatory, but is encouraged.
No citizenship requirements.
Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation.
Engineering. Physical Sciences. Management. Including business, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering and physics, as well as emerging technical fields such as autonomic computing, nanotechnology, grid computing, e-business on demand and services management.
