Position Purpose
1. Perform specialized and general work in the installation, adjusting, programming, maintaining, and servicing of all HVAC automation systems including all support equipment needed for the operation of equipment.
2. Operates and maintains the Universities’ computer automation systems and HVAC equipment. Programs the system for new applications and makes adjustments to the systems programs to keep it current for the changing needs of the University.
3. Participate in the design of new or modification of existing HVAC systems where the automation of those systems is a factor. Actively assists the contract manager with projects involving HVAC control systems.
4. Assist in the repair and troubleshooting of the HVAC systems and equipment.
5. Train HVAC technicians and inform building managers in the operation of HVAC systems to achieve the most economical performance if the system, while maintaining the comfort of all users of University facilities.
6. Performs preventive maintenance, as assigned.

-Bachelor’s degree in the following field(s) of study: HVAC Technology or related field required.
-Formal Electrical or HVAC training and/or related military experience may be substituted for the required experience.
-Education may be substituted for experience or if experience may be substituted for education. Note that equivalencies are based on the following: AA or 60 credit hours = 2 years experience; BA/BS or 120 credit hours = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 years experience; PhD = 8 years experience.

1. Four years HVAC experience in the maintenance and repair of large HVAC and refrigeration systems in an industrial or commercial setting as a seasoned trades person (considered as a mastercrafts person), including one year of verifiable experience in the operation of automated HVAC systems.
2. Experience with building automation systems modification and programming preferred
