HR Business Partner

In this position you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with deans, directors, and department chairs, providing guidance and coaching on various HR-related matters within the College of Humanities. Another crucial role will be overseeing all human resource operations in the college. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with office managers, participate in training and development initiatives, and serve as a strategic partner in fulfilling the organization's Vision, Mission, and Values at BYU.

 

What you'll do in this position: 

Human Resource/Business Consulting

  • Develop relationships of trust and formulate partnerships with deans, directors, department chairs, office managers, and frontline employees.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees/managers and central HR
  • Communicate the value of HR initiatives.
  • Analyze HR data specific to the college to inform decision making and program development.

Human Resource Operations

  • Provide administrative support and assist in the entire process of full-time faculty hiring.
  • Work with hiring managers in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for all staff employees.
  • Provide support for department staff as needed with student and adjunct hiring, job changes, and terminations.

Development, Training, & Recognition

  • Participate in promoting employee development and training opportunities, employee recognition programs, employee satisfaction and improvement feedback processes.
  • Conduct regular trainings with all college employment specialists.
  • Work with employees and/or supervisors to resolve conflicts, performance problems, etc

 

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in organizational behavior, human resources, psychology, counseling, or similar human relations field, plus three years of experience in employee relations, human resources or similar.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in related field and five years professional experience

 

  • Skills, abilities, knowledge and certifications: 
    • Human resources certification (e.g., Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)) 
    • Familiarity with change management and organizational culture development.
    • Background or experience working in higher education.
    • Exceptional people skills and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people across multiple levels of the organization.
    • Good judgment and foresight. 
    • Ability to train, develop, mentor, and manage employees.
    • Experience with consulting, coaching, influencing, and diplomacy. 
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Working knowledge in multiple human resource disciplines. 
    • Good understanding of BYU organization, policies, procedures, etc
