Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

The Colorado State Forest Service is an agency of Colorado State University, and is housed organizationally, in the Warner College of Natural Resources. The CSFS also staffs the Division of Forestry for the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. The CSFS has 17 field offices throughout the state, with a State Office located in Fort Collins on one of the foothills campuses of CSU.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Talent Coordinator is responsible for and/or assists with all activities related to recruiting, hiring and retention; assists with HR program development; develops methods to streamline HR functions; and acts as an agency HR Liaison between the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) and CSU.
Required Job Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, liberal arts, marketing, communications or related field
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Human Resources, Talent Management or Recruiting
  • Ability to occasionally travel during nonstandard hours including weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment date
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed started date. The Colorado State Forest Service will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Duty/Responsibility
  • Develops strategies and identifies processes to aid in the recruitment and retention of diverse staff to department.
  • Works with communications staff to explore and implement employment-related outreach plans.
  • Guides hiring authorities and supervisors in the search process using various CSU search models, ensuring each search is performed in a fair and equitable manner using equal opportunity guidelines.
  • Provides guidance to CSFS staff in the areas of recruitment, hiring timelines, interviewing guidelines and best practices related to hiring staff.
  • Develops and updates departmental documents related to the search process and related roles, and acts as a point of contact for search-related inquires and assistance.
  • Serves as a departmental point of contact for inquiries about employment opportunities.
  • Continually evaluates systems and processes for efficiencies and improved effectiveness related to hiring.
  • Writes, designs and updates written communication and templates for use in CSFS search processes including correspondence with candidates.
  • On behalf of the CSFS, may travel to recruitment events, industry events, etc. to network and create interest in current and future CSFS job opening.

Job Duty Category HR Program Coordination
Duty/Responsibility
  • Facilitates the development of position descriptions and works with supervisors to ensure existing descriptions are up-to-date.
  • Participates in ongoing development of CSFS new employee onboarding program, and may conduct department-level HR orientation.
  • Manages processes related to new employee onboarding, and works with supervisors to coordinate required training at 30, 60 and 90 days.
  • Compiles and writes content of HR announcements for the monthly CSFS newsletter.
  • Manages the CSFS identity wear program including, negotiating with vendors, working with the communications team to update identity wear catalog, and coordinating the annual identity wear stipend process.
  • Coordinates the performance evaluation and work-plan process, tracks completion of evaluations and enters appropriate information in the HR system.
  • Assists with entry of Oracle actions and HR Liaison functions related to workers compensation, FML, benefits, and monthly leave tracking.
  • Consistently works toward education and growth on topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion to elevate incorporation of inclusive excellence into the position, and the CSFS.
  • Maintains a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and complies with them in all work activities.

A $3,000 moving allowance may be negotiated at time of hire.
