Job Description


The Human Resources Specialist II is responsible for overseeing activities related to talent acquisition and employee engagement. This position is responsible for sourcing and attracting prospective employees to match candidate talents and qualifications with Texas A&M Engineering’s specific staffing needs. Additionally, this position is responsible for leading employee engagement efforts for the College of Engineering and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES).  


 


Responsibilities: 


 


Talent Acquisition:   


  • Facilitates recruitment process which includes strategic sourcing, recruiting, and screening of applicants.  

  • Drives the development and implementation of comprehensive recruitment plans by using innovative sourcing and marketing/branding techniques to engage both active and passive candidates. 

  • Acts as a subject matter expert by applying best practices for full lifecycle recruitment and strategic talent acquisition.  

  • Collaborates with key leaders and hiring managers to develop a strong understanding of organizational goals, strategy, talent profiles, and culture to develop effective recruitment plans. Develop an understanding of critical needs. Understands and influences culture. 

  • Facilitates continuous improvement via measurement tools, and recruitment analysis. Understands effectiveness of tools, strategies, methods, and materials and make changes as needed for improvement. Document process improvements.  

  • Other duties as assigned.


 


Employee Engagement:  


  • Coordinates and oversees the employee engagement initiative. Assesses organization/employee engagement needs. Identifies solutions toward increased job satisfaction and improved retention. 

  • Collaborates with and builds relationships across College and TEES divisions. 

  • Works on a team to engage new employees and works with the hiring division to enhance the onboarding experience. 

  • Administers and provides logistical and administrative oversight for engagement events, meetings, or other special functions, including on-site support, and event registration.  Researches and identifies available venues and coordinates vendor payment, logistics and presentation needs.  

  • Develops and implements marketing and benchmarking plans in support of engagement initiatives, regularly monitors the success of these programs, and forecasts future needs and enhancements.  

  • Serves as liaison to the Engineering Staff Advisory Council and serves on the ESAC Leadership Team. Responsible for managing the Tuition Assistance program for ESAC.  


 


Required Education: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 


 


Required Experience: 


  • Two years of related experience. 


 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 


  • Ability to successfully network with potential candidates and industry associations to solidify potential sourcing pipelines. 

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. 

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications  

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
