Human Resources Specialist I (PT)

Job Summary

Perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the human resource department.


Essential Duties

Provide frontline customer service for faculty, staff, retirees and applicants in person, telephone, and through email. Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.

Assist hires with completion of new hire paperwork.

Take ID pictures and print badges for new employees.

Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.

Process incoming mail.

Order background checks for applicants recommended for hire.

Help maintain a filing system for new employee paperwork.

Provide clerical support to the HR department.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of relevant experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), Onboarding software, and similar computer applications.


Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree in related field.

Experience with NEOED/NEOGOV and Ellucian Banner software.
