Job Description

Purpose:

The Human Resources Specialist I is responsible for coordinating visitor scholar, intern, and collaborator processes for Texas A&M Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with host/supervisor to initiate paperwork for incoming visiting scholars, interns, and remote collaborators, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for J-1 and other visitors, unpaid interns, and remote collaborators regarding documentation requirements, timelines, and procedures.
  • Manage the routing and approval process for documentation associated with international programs, working closely with various departments and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals.
  • Set up and renew NetIDs through Identify Management for appropriate access. Request Aggie ID cards
  • Conduct background checks for visitors and interns.
  • Serve as point of contact for International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office for J-1 visitors.
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in processing.
  • Oversees immigration billing process for foreign influence & security assessments.
  • Serve as backup to immigration specialist on coordination and processing of employer-sponsored visas including H-1B, O-1, TN, and permanent residency applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
